EECON Technical Tours & Networking Functions

Site Tours

We will be commencing EECON 2025 with two exciting Site Tours. One will be a half day walking tour and the other a full day bus tour. More details below and on the ECCON 2025 Website.

NB: There tours are on at the same time, so you can only select to attend one.

 

Welcome Cocktail Function

After the site tours, we would love to welcome you all to our Welcome Cocktail function, commencing at 5:30pm in the Exhibition Area this year! Drinks and Canapes will be served as we network together for the start of EECON 2025. Please indicate your attendance below. The Welcome Cocktail Function is included in all FULL Conference Tickets.

 

Site Tour 1: Kwinana Battery Energy Storage System

Kwinana Battery Energy Storage Stage 1 (KBESS1) is the first transmission connected battery energy storage system (BESS) in the South West Interconnected System (SWIS). It has been developed to help manage stability in the grid and ensure reliable and effective power supply to the wider region. Pick up from Pan Pacific Perth at 12:15pm for bus transfer A small snack box lunch will be provided for the bus trip out. There are limited facilities for this during the tour. You will need to wear enclosed shoes and long sleeves. Additional PPE gear will be provided for you at the site.

Site Tour 2: Full Day including Bus Transfers

Experience this exclusive behind the scenes interactive tour of the Rio Tinto Aluminium OC and understanding of the integrated value chain Join Rio Tinto to visit their newly constructed Aluminium OC which supports the four Rio Tinto Bauxite Assets from Pit to Port– with both internal and external customers Aluminium is Rio Tinto’s second largest commodity. The future of this Operations Centre is bright with further integration of the refinery and smelter assets within Rio Tinto. This tour will take you through the Aluminium value chain and leave visitors with a key understanding of market, logistics and the systems that are enabling today’s team to create an OC of the future. Details on catering and PPE will be sent shortly.
